I am a registered Pharmacist, a Wife, a Mom, and a Christian.
As a child, I was extremely overweight to the tune of 192 pounds at age 11. I suffered many years of yo-yo dieting throughout my elementary and high school years. I also suffered through years of bullying from classmates, so-called friends, and even members of my family that had no understanding of what it felt like to want to lose weight and not be able to or even how damaging the “jokes” impacted me as a young girl. The results were many years of the terrible cycle of unhealthy eating.
Although my battle with my weight continued throughout high school, one thing I have excelled at is my academics. For some, school was difficult, but I always seemed to excel academically, so that became my focus. I found solace in that and took great pride in my educational achievements.
“In 2002, I was blessed to marry the love of my life and after several years of wedded bliss, we had a beautiful son who has kept me on my toes since the day he was born.”
Excelling academically also allowed me to discover another focus….helping others. This combination lead me to further my studies at the University of Chicago where I pursued a profession that I knew would allow me to positively impact a great many people, Pharmacy. Unfortunately, full-time studies and a part-time job was not a good combination and I found my health started to suffer as a result.
So I did what I knew best…I started dieting again…..But nothing I tried worked for very long, or if it did, I was miserable. One bright note through all of the difficulties of my college years was that I achieved my goal of becoming a pharmacist when I completed a Doctorate of Pharmacy in 1999.
Being a Mom is such an awesome and fulfilling role, but I got lost in everything that comes with it. From the playdates, to the homework, to still working as a full-time pharmacist, I found myself close to my largest weight and realized that a real change was in order. Finally, I decided to take control of my life and start this fitness journey.
I started Beachbody All-Access and now my life is totally changed. What began as an interest quickly became a complete lifestyle change and desire for self-improvement. Noticing the positive changes in my body and feeling the benefits of increased energy, the motivation to keep pushing forward has led to a feeling of self-confidence like I have never known.
“The decision to become a Team Beachbody Coach was an easy one after the first person noticed the results I was getting from the Beachbody workout program I was doing and consequently decided to join the program themselves as a result of my results!”
That was exciting and empowering to me, because although I would never have dreamed in a million years that I would be a motivator to another person struggling with their weight, I was helping someone else along in their fitness journey.
When I tell you what an amazing journey this has been, words would not be enough. I have realized that helping others out of pure enthusiasm has changed my own life along the way. I find myself telling people who ask what has worked for me, what I’ve tried, and what I’ve heard someone else say worked for them, and always trying to give the encouragement I use to pray for.
This journey is truly about people helping people – from all around the country, from every ethnicity, and background – working towards one common goal: Reversing The Trends of Obesity: One Relationship at a Time!
My mission is to help initiate positive change in the lives of others through ALL aspects of health, fitness, and wellness, no matter what their starting point. My ultimate objective as a Beachbody Coach is to work in tandem for all of us to reach our goals.
“I am a huge advocate of healthy eating flexibility and eliminating restrictions in order to help people merge their nutrition seamlessly with their schedules and lifestyles!”
I want to create a community of women who support each other and lift each other up so we can all get stronger together! Will you join me?
